Friends – access this link to view some videos I am making with my digital camera. Not advised while riding, but, at least I have a helmet on…..
New Videos:
Day’s Theme:
Easy ride on day 1 of leg 2!
Weather/Terrain:
A bit warmer again today – up to about 99. Slight winds – not too tough of a day, other than road construction and route directions which nobody followed!
How I feel:
I am well, and ready for the Rockies! Yesterday we had a rest day and I did rest – cleaned the bike, did laundry, read a bit…,.
We have lost one rider for a few days – bad Achilles Tendon, and today we had a rider fall off her bike trying to go into a store parking lot, and another rider who had to go off the road to avoid another cyclist. Both are OK and will be riding again. The woman who fell in the parking lot broke her helmet in 4 places - WEAR YOUR HELMETS KIDS!! And I don’t just mean on a bike – 24x7…….
Notable Events:
BYU – beautiful campus with towering mountains in the background.
It is also nice to see grass again – even though it makes me sneeze……

What’s Happening:

Leaving Salt Lake City, we snaked through this beautiful industrial park with a lovely golf course.
While, of course, I am retired and could give a sh&% about industrial parks, thinking of you poor people, I thought of you and thought “this would be a nice place for my friends who are not retired to work……”.

Continuing through SLC, we rode past this former Olympic Stadium – this was the speed skating center.

A school in SLC.
Kids riding their bikes to school, with awesome mountains in the background.

Riding along Rt. 73 East, I believe, we rode past Fort Williams National Guard Barracks.

On Rt. 73, we had a view of Lake Utah on the left (you can’t see it in this photo, so, just pretend).

The mountains in Utah have been spectacular.
Everyone’s backyard has a view like this!

Clearly they knew I was riding through town, and the locals put the big “G” up for me.
Great people – I would kiss them all if I had time.

A neighborhood near SLC – nice homes, great views.

On the road closing in on Brigham Young University – the mountains are very rugged and always in your peripheral vision (that is my big word for the day).

The BYU Campus.
