Day 2: Fairfield, CA to Sacramento, CA

Day 2: 04 June 2007

Fairfield, CA to Sacramento, CA.  57 Miles.

Day’s Theme:
Take it easy.  Head east.

Weather/Terrain:
Nice day overall.  Maybe 80, sunny to partly cloudy.  Generally a tail wind.  Easy flat farm roads – easy biking, able to talk.  

How I feel:
All is good.  Not pushing too hard, and trying not to get into any racing with any of the cowboys.  That freak Robert is an animal on the flats and likes to ride my wheel.  Had a nice Denny’s breakfast today, and clearly that adds to everyone’s’ enjoyment.

Notable Events:
This is a flat part of CA – top part of where so much food is grown.
Before we checked into the hotel, we stopped off in Old Sacramento, which is right near Downtown Sacramento. Very cute place – like an old western town.
My friend Sally Johnson from Optos met me for dinner (sorry, I forgot my camera).  She worked with me in the Marlborough Office, but lives and works (for Optos still) out here now near Sacramento.  She got introduced to the whole CCC Group.
We found the River City Brewing Company that night – me, Robert, Jeff, and Mike “The Rocket” from Austin, TX.  Pale Ale was disappointing, but the Irish Stout was quite delicious.
