Lovelock, NV (3900 ft.) to Winnemucca, NV (4280 ft).
72 Miles.

Day’s Theme:
Get the hell out of Lovelock!
Weather/Terrain:
Slightly cool to start, but, just shorts and a bike shirt today. It only got into the low 80s today – cool for this time of year in the desert. Generally, a very pleasant day to ride. Wind was slight, and seemed like it was behind us, from the side, and in our face – sometimes all at the same moment…….,. This was not too tough a ride – we are just heading east.
How I feel:
Good. I’d probably say great if I could stay out of the bars! I am not 100% sure, but I invented a little step called the “ABB Shuffle” last night at the “Whisky Bar” in Lovelock, NV. It was caught digitally…….,. Anyway, the ABB Group Leader had a shirt on today about this ride that said “I spent 52 days behind handlebars”. Michelle, the other ABB Group Leader said she was going to make shirts for Mike “Rocket” and me saying “I spent 52 days in bars”! The Rocket and I are stilling rolling…
Notable Events:
Nothing much again. Got flat # 2 of the trip today. These Armadillo tires are really great. Not.
Winnemucca looks like heaven compared to Lovelock. There’s a Wal-Mart here – hey! Winnemucca is famous because it is where Billy the Kid robbed his first bank!

What’s Happening:

Everyone seemed to want to enjoy the day – ride easy, talk.

So, yesterday we saw miles of fences with noting in them.
Today, we see the “Free Range” Steers.
Kooky.
Anyway, these guys were just hanging, doing whatever free range cows do.

Our trip was pretty flat today, but there were mountain ranges in all directions. We rode kind of northeast, around these mountains.
There are more mountains in our future though….

We spent a little time on I-80 again. There are more of those mountains and also a little bit of water in an otherwise relatively desolate landscape.

Our second SAG Area was in this rest area on I-80.
Lots of trucks. Ate actual food today for lunch – Subway. Eat fresh. Freaks.
More mountains.

I rode most of the day with Mike “Rocket” Tyler from Austin, TX – originally from Ohio I think. More on Mike later.
Good guy. If I don’t finish this ride due to alcohol poisoning, this guy, or Brian from the UK, will likely be responsible.
Although, I think alcohol is the only way I can slow this guy down. I don’t know what to do yet to slow Brian down!
Ladies – he is single. He is also “retired” like me!

Heading into Winnemucca. This mountain range was quite nice looking – looks pretty rugged.
