Day’s Theme:
Signs, Signs, Everywhere Signs
Talking ‘bout machinery breaking my mind
Do this, don’t do that
Can’t you read the sign!!
Weather/Terrain:
The sun returned in all it’s glory, and the temp pushed to 90 with humidity, and mild winds that at times were somewhat behind us. Riders we’re thrilled. The early morning ride brought us through beautiful farms and homes along nice, quiet county roads, and this seemed to be an enjoyable day for most riders.
How I feel:
All is good my friends. I am out of butt cream though – I may need to use mayonnaise if I don’t come up with something soon…..
Notable Events:
I dumped my bike today. OK, I was trying to take a picture of the horses with my right foot clicked in, and I dropped to the right. I think it helped get their attention because they couldn’t believe how stupid I looked……………
Rider Profile: Howie Davidson, 46, from Hudson, MA.

Howie and I met at the SF Airport while we were waiting for our bikes – we had a couple drinks that night!! Although we live very close to each other and obviously both like to bike, we never met before!
Howie is a very busy man – he has served on the board fro the Nashoba Valley Peddlers for 9 years, and has completed many bicycle tours including with his two sons. He said the “OK” for him to do this trip someday was in his “pre-nup”!
Howie is a software engineer for IBM.
In addition to cycling, Howie enjoys skiing, and wind surfing.
Howie is a 6 time cancer survivor – God bless him! But, instead of letting that get him down, he fights it on every level, including by raising money for the Jimmy Fund.

Roll on Howie…………..

What’s Happening:

Riders all started out together today and seemed to stay largely grouped until the first SAG at 31 miles.
Gerard, Andrew, and Jane just climbed this little rise and were about ready to enjoy the downhill reward!

Well, for once my stupid Nikon camera took a good picture. Admittedly, I clicked this 30 feet earlier, but, it all worked out.
This is Andrew from the UK – great guy, enjoying the day.

The first sign that caught all our attentions today was this beauty.

It’s flip side had a great message too!

After Sag II as we rolled though Jamesport, MO, we noticed the sign for this store – Sax Thrift Avenue. Cleaver, huh?

This town had many Amish folks I guess. You would NOT believe how fast these horse-drawn buggies go!
I got right in the way of this one as it wanted to turn left.

I always felt I would find this spot one day in my life, and a few of you have even suggested that I go here from time to time.
So, I stopped at the intersection of FU and reflected on all the reasons people told me to go here.
It took a while……………….

After I fell off my bike, these guys came over to laugh at me. They were cool.
I gave them some peanut-butter toast crackers. They made somesilly little noises, but, I think they liked them.

I am not 100% sure, but there is a sign that marks another church with this name three blocks from my home in Providence, RI.

This wall mural, while not a sign, was very impressive.
I don’t know the deal with sliced bread – but, I gather THIS is where they invented it.
I bet some of you have been accused of inventing sliced bread? I knew it wasn’t true……….
